Microdermabrasion – Express or Full Service Microdermabrasion

Microdermabrasion (also known as “particle resurfacing” and other names, including Power Peels, Derma Peels and Parisian Peels) is a skin polishing technique, performed by our highly trained staff using our physician-strength cosmeceuticals. The aesthetician uses a handheld device that blasts fine particles of sand-like crystals (aluminum oxide or table salt) against the skin. Then we vacuum away the used crystals, dirt and most importanly, the dead layer of skin.

Microdermabrasion is also called a “lunchtime peel,” because it takes only 20 to 30 minutes for a full-face express treatment. However, our full service Microdermabrasion lasts for one full hour and leaves you with a beautiful healthy radiant glow. A Microdermabrasion is a simple way to maintain healthy skin year round, to complement your home skin care regimen.

The procedure can be used on the neck and chest, as well. Microdermabrasion leaves the skin with a healthy glow. The patient can then immediately resume their regular activities, with only mild skin pinkness, which generally fades within an hour or two.

This procedure is not painful (only a slight tingling sensation), requires no anesthesia, and will not adversely lighten or darken black skin, as some exfoliating treatments do. To achieve optimal benefits, five to ten treatments, every two to three weeks, are needed; most patients see improvement after the fourth or fifth session. These treatments will likely be combined with physician-prescribed medical strength skin care products, to enhance the results of the microdermabrasion. Following the initial series, periodic maintenance microdermabrasion treatments (every few weeks, depending on the skin condition) are sometimes recommended.
