Skintastic New Year Skin Care Resolutions

new year skin care resolutions

It’s that time of the year again! We’re all making New Year’s Resolutions. Some of us will make resolutions to work out or lose weight, while others will make resolutions to be more organized and productive at work. Our suggestion is to make a New Year’s resolution for your skin! Here at Skintastic, we came up with a list of New Year skin care resolutions.

Skin Care Resolution Number 1: Keep your products clean.

Warm, humid areas, like your bathroom, encourage bacterial and fungal growth. To extend the shelf life of your skincare products, minimize their exposure to air and keep them away from germ-ridden fingers. Keeping your skin care products clean is as easy as washing your hands before and after using any product on your skin.

Skin Care Resolution Number 2: Get started with the Anti-Aging Process.

Consult with one of our licensed aestheticians and experienced cosmetic surgeons to find out more about our surgical, nonsurgical and skin care options to get started with the anti-aging process. We would love to answer your questions, and get you started with a proactive plan that will have you feeling younger and rejuvenated.

Skin Care Resolution Number 3: Get moles and any abnormal skin growths checked by a dermatologist.

Once a year, schedule an appointment with your dermatologist to get any moles checked and screened for skin cancer. We also suggest give yourself a self-exam every month, in addition to your annual check up. Remember the ABCDE rule and look for moles that are asymmetrical, have irregular borders, inconsistent color, or a diameter larger than ¼ inch, or appear to be evolving over time.

Skin Care Resolution Number 4: Eat for Healthy Skin.

After the holidays are over, it will be much easier to begin to eat for healthy skin. Avoid processed foods, refined grains, excessive sugar and full fat dairy. Say goodbye to beer and pizza nights! Drink lots of water in the new year. Also consider eating more calcium-rich foods, at least nine colorful fruits or vegetables a day, and 2 servings of iron and zinc enriched foods (like seafood and lean red meat).

Thank you to our fans and clients for making 2012 such a great year. We are looking forward to a productive 2013, and continuing to provide options for youthful and healthy skin in the DFW metroplex.
