The body houses a collection of complicated circulatory systems, with an extensive network of larger veins and smaller blood vessels called capillaries. Over time, aging, trauma, sun exposure, and certain lifestyle factors can cause a number of them to break or to grow large and ‘ropy’, creating various types of varicosities (vein issues). SKINTASTIC utilizes a number of effective medical and aesthetic technologies to improve or even eliminate spider veins and varicose veins (for cosmetic purposes and when medically-indicated).
Dr. Adelglass has been waiting for a more comfortable treatment to offer his patients for unsightly spider veins. Already armed with the latest laser and injection therapies, including Asclera Polidocanol microfoam-a safe and effective injectable sclerosant with a low risk of complications and side effects, SKINTASTIC’s medical staff was thrilled to find out about a new sclerotherapy vein-viewing tool to help their medical team view the hidden portion of spider veins beneath the surface. The problem with injecting tiny spider veins is accurately locating their below-the-surface trunks for injection. Using the new, near-infrared VeinViewer, Skintastic’s medical team can see that they have accurately located the targeted trunk vein, which greatly reduces the number of injection ‘misses’ that a patient previously experienced in injection therapy. Spider veins have a slick, rubbery surface, that tends to roll away from the injection needle, so being able to actually see the needle inside the tiny vein and that the injection is moving through it shows that the target spider vein has been treated and eliminated–creating a much less time-consuming, much more comfortable treatment for the patient.
SKINTASTIC utilizes a variety of injection, laser and pulsed-light treatments to eliminate small spider veins, and offers a complimentary evaluation, as well as treatments for the removal of minor skin lesions, age spots, and the correction of other cosmetic issues.
Some of the treatments (other than injection therapy) that are used to treat spider veins at SKINTASTIC include:
Fotofacial IPL (Intense Pulsed Light) can eliminate tiny broken capillaries all over the body, rejuvenate the skin, and improve Rosacea and other ‘skin reddening’ conditions.
The YAG laser beam can deliver energy to a large area with each pulse, so laser vein removal takes just a few minutes to treat each discolored vein. Yag laser therapy can eliminate damaged veins and capillaries by removing virtually all traces of them. Treatments are quick and relatively pain-free. Using a Yag laser, hemoglobin in the damaged veins and capillaries is targeted, and the vein is thermally “heated” with short pulse light. One to two sessions are usually required to resolve all traces of these unsightly veins.
Asclera (Polidocanol): Asclera was recently FDA-approved to close spider veins (tiny varicose veins less than 1 millimeter in diameter) and reticular varicose veins (flat blue or green veins just below the surface that are 1 to 3 millimeters in diameter). Asclera is a newer technique that involves the injection of a sclerosant (polidocanol) in a foam form rather than a liquid form–foam makes better contact with the inside of the vein walls and stays in the vein longer. Asclera acts by affecting the cell lining of the treated blood vessels, causing the blood vessel to close. Those closed vessels are eventually absorbed by the body and replaced by other types of tissue. Saline injection therapy is another option for treating spider veins, although it may not be covered by insurance.
Although the majority of SKINTASTIC treatments are not covered by insurance, it is possible that your SKINTASTIC Asclera Therapy treatment for varicose veins may be. Call 972-620-3223, ext. zero to schedule a complimentary Sclerotherapy evaluation with a member of our surgical staff. They will need to perform a short preliminary physicial examination, and will be able to tell you if you are a likely candidate for the Asclera procedure which is generally approved by insurance (with certain prerequisites); they will also be able to explain the insurance companies’ requirements to be considered for the Asclera treatment.
If it is determined that your vein issues are more ‘cosmetic’ in nature, SKINTASTIC can customize a treatment therapy for you, which can financed through Care Credit. Care Credit is currently offering 6 months no-interest financing with qualified credit.
