What is SmoothShapes?

SmoothShapes XV, the newest version of SmoothShapes currently available at Skintastic in Plano, Texas, utilizes a novel, trifecta medical approach to the reduction of cellulite: Photomology.

Photomology combines specific laser and light wavelengths with suction and deep lymphatic massage to address the physical manifestations of cellulite - brittle fibrous septae and engorged fat cells. With SmoothShapes XV at Skintastic, collagen is remodeled so that skin is smoother and tighter and fat cells are restored to a more normal size. The new Smooth Shapes XV version at Skintastic offers patients 50% more laser power than the original SmoothShapes (already a very effective treatment)!

What Causes Cellulite?

Hormones -- not exercise or diet -- primarily regulate the fat storage and metabolism in the subcutaneous fat layer. Women are more likely to develop cellulite because their subcutaneous fat layer is separated by thin vertical columns, in contrast to the crisscross network in men. These columns contain engorged fat cells, allowing herniation to be more visible on the skin's surface. Hormonal factors, vascular changes and inflammation all play their part in creating the tell-tale "cottage-cheese" dimpled appearance of cellulite. There currently is no known permanent cure for cellulite.

Is The Treatment Uncomfortable?

SmoothShapes treatments are generally painless, feeling more like a warm, pampering massage than a medical treatment. SKINTASTIC recommends a minimum of 8 treatements, 2 times per week. The treatments generally take an hour or less, depending on the body areas treated. There is no pain management required, so you can return immediately to your regular activities.
