What is the Dermaroller? A unique approach to the problem of collagen loss.

The Dermaroller is used for Collagen-Induction Therapy (CIT)—stimulating the growth of fresh collagen. As we age, the body slows down production of collagen. The collagen layer gradually diminishes, which causes the skin that rests upon it to wrinkle and sag.

The Dermaroller utilizes the science of micro-needling, and takes advantage of the body’s self-healing mechanisms. It can be performed on the skin of any part of the body, and has been shown to be effective at improving acne scars, reducing wrinkling, and rejuvenating the skin.

The Dermaroller treatment is administered by a trained SKINTASTIC professional, using a specially-developed sterile, stainless steel cylindrical drum hand-roller studded with fine needles of varying lengths. The needles create microscopically-small needle pricks which are so fine and thin that tissue damage is unlikely, and the skin integrity remains intact. SKINTASTIC offers treatments using the Medical Dermaroller (for deeper skin layer rejuvenation). As the roller is moved back and forth across the skin in a prescribed pattern, the needles stimulate nerves in the deeper skin layers which instigate the body’s ‘healing processes’. This healing process causes the creation and multiplication of new collagen and elastin fibers. These fibers together create a layer of new collagen cells, thickening and filling out the skin for a tighter, more youthful and uniform appearance.

The number of Dermaroller treatments that are needed will vary from patient to patient. Numbing cream can be applied prior to your treatment so that the treatment is relatively painless. Immediately following a Dermaroller treatment, your skin will likely appear reddish—which generally fades to pink in a few hours. Some pinkish inflammation will likely remain for a couple of days, but will gradually return to normal. Sunscreen after your treatment will be suggested.
